Terms of use
Applies to NetSmith for iOS and iPadOS, and to the tools on this website. Last updated 21 October 2026.
1. Licence
NetSmith grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app on Apple devices that you own or control, in accordance with the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. You may not copy, resell, redistribute, reverse engineer, or sublicense the app or its bundled data.
2. In-app purchase
NetSmith Pro is a one-time purchase that unlocks the remaining tools and the export features. It is not a subscription and does not renew. All purchases are processed by Apple. Billing, refunds and purchase restoration are handled by Apple under their policies; we cannot issue refunds directly. A purchase can be restored on any device signed in with the same Apple Account.
3. Reference data and accuracy
NetSmith is a reference and calculation aid. Its data sets — port assignments, OUI vendor registrations, protocol numbers, cabling pinouts and vendor CLI syntax — are compiled from public sources and are provided for convenience only. They may be incomplete, or may lag behind the latest standards or vendor releases.
Formulas follow the relevant RFCs, but we cannot guarantee that any result matches your organisation’s own addressing or configuration standards.
4. No warranty
NetSmith is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
You are responsible for verifying every result before applying it to a production network. A mis-planned subnet, aggregate or power budget can take a network or a rack offline. Always confirm against your own standards and change-control process.
5. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, NetSmith and its developer are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, revenue or profits, arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, the app — even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the app.
6. Third-party marks
Cisco, IOS, IOS-XE, IOS-XR and NX-OS; Arista and EOS; Juniper and Junos; Huawei and VRP; HPE and Comware; and other product names are trademarks of their respective owners. NetSmith is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any of these companies. Command references are provided for interoperability and educational purposes.
7. Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated from time to time. The current version will always be posted on this page. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
8. This website and advertising
The tools on this site are provided free of charge and are covered by the accuracy, warranty and liability terms in sections 3 to 5 above. They run entirely in your browser: there is no account, nothing you enter is uploaded, and the calculators keep working with no network at all.
The site is funded by advertising served by Google. Ads are labelled as advertising, are never placed inside a tool’s input or output, and are never presented as part of the site or as one of its controls. What Google collects when it serves an ad, how consent works in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, and how to turn personalised advertising off are all set out in the Privacy Policy. Running an ad blocker does not restrict any feature.
